Oh Canada

Brie had an extensive project she had to do in World Cultures. The assignment was given in December, which allowed the students one month to work on it. That gives you an idea of how involved it was. Brie is a weird child. She actually enjoys school! She also loves a challenge. When she brought the rubric home she was so excited about everything she'd have to do.

I think she did a terrific job! She had to highlight the following: polar bears, the Inuits, dog sled teams, hockey, mounties, beavers, and a famous Canadian actor (which happened to be Hayden Christensen... rather interesting name, don't you think???). Additionally, she had to find a picture of Niagara Falls, Canadian products sold in the York area, Canadian currency, and a Canadian news article, something about the maple leaf (like the leaf itself), and last but not least, the Canadian flag. Thanks to Cheri for the money, news items, and Green Giant label (that one counted as extra credit). When all was said and done it looked something like this.......Don't you just love the beaver!?! We had to figure out how to "mount" it on the display. Just for future reference, the little plastic thingies with the "teeth" at one end that you stick the other end into (like you find on the backs of toys to keep them in place) is what we used. It worked out great. I used box cutters to score the cardboard, then Brie slid the thingy through, connected it to a second one, and tightened it in place. Nice work!

Awesome job Brie! and I really enjoy reading your blog Brenda! You have to explain the green giant to me though, I'm not familiar with that.

Awesome possum or should I say beaver. Give that girl a Reeses peanut butter cup (my favorite treat)! She earned it.
