Tibby Had A Birthday!

July 24th is a very important day. It's Pioneer Day... the day in which the LDS saints reached the Salt Lake valley and began a new life. A life in which they could worship as they believed, without the fear of persecution and violence being perpetrated against them. Growing up in the west, I came to love this special day.

In addition to the 24th being Pioneer Day, it's also the birthday of our dear friend, Larry Tibbs. He's a sweetheart of a man. I called his wife, Diana, and asked if she had anything planned for his birthday. Since she didn't I asked if they'd like to come over for dinner. She accepted and we had a very fun evening.I grilled chicken, made a potato salad, baked beans, zucchini bread, and instead of a birthday cake, I made a pecan pie (it was Tibby's request).I was thrilled about how well it turned out since it was the first time I'd ever made a pecan pie.

It really was pretty and tasted good (yes, I sampled a little sliver... literally).Just as we were finishing our meal, the missionaries knocked on the door. They ended up joining us for the remainder of the celebration. It was a lot of fun.HAPPY 78TH BIRTHDAY, TIBBY!!!
heheheheehe.
We love you.

Two Months and Counting

Two months ago right now I was stoned out of my mind, thankfully, and beginning my recovery from surgery. My sister, Cindy, was with me at the hospital and I vaguely remember it was a very stormy night. I was pretty out of it, but I do remember her telling me how bad the storms were. Sitting here in my kitchen I cannot believe how much progress I have made. My life is already beginning to transform in ways I didn't dare to think of. I am making phenomenal strides and feeling amazing. As of a week ago today, I have lost 50 pounds. I am beyond happy. I have been taking in my capris and shrinking back in to some shirts I had outgrown. This is such an exciting time in my life. I'm thankful more and more each day for the surgeons I have and the medical personnel who have helped me get this far.

The sky is the limit!!

Monday's Magnet

Life has been going very well for me lately. Actually, in spite of all the challenges I've faced, I still believe I have been blessed and have had a rewarding life... all in all. Yes, there have been some painful experiences, but everyone has those. Thus the reason for today's selection. I am thankful for all the wonderful things which have left an indelible mark upon my heart.

My Very Busy Life

I was just looking over my blog and something jumped out at me. I haven't been posting as much as I used to (at least not in the month of July). I was trying to figure out why, and it dawned on me that since my surgery, I've gotten very busy. That's a good thing. I'll see if I can't get caught up.

First of all I'm back to work on a new case. I've been working for about five weeks now. After a very frustrating turn of events with a former client, I requested to be assigned to a new case. I positively love the case I'm on now. I feel as if I'm part of a care team and can actually do things which will give my client a better chance of having a fulfilling future. Due to HIPAA I cannot comment further, but I can say I truly enjoy the work I'm doing.Another thing I've been doing is de-cluttering the house. I've been going through stuff and throwing things away. I've even started getting rid of my old "fat clothes" that I've already outgrown. I never want those sizes in my house again. What a fun feeling. It's neat seeing the progress I'm making around the house. I've got plenty left to do, but at least I'm off to a good start.

I'm still walking on a regular basis. I started off a little too fast and had gotten up to a mile in the morning and 1/2 a mile in the evening. That only lasted a few days before I had a major flair up in my left hip from our car accident 8 years ago. I really had to back off, in fact I wasn't actually able to walk for almost a week. I started again, only this time I went a little slower. I'm back up to a mile but it took me longer to get there. That's ok though. The idea is to continue to exercise.Due to my weight loss, I've also had to start taking some of my clothes in. I've also been mending things that have needed repair for a long time now. Another item to check off of my "To Do" list. Yay.I suppose the last thing I'll mention in this post is the weather. It's been H-H-H! Hazy, Hot, and Humid. Yuck, YUCK, YUCK!!!! It has been so oppressive that I haven't even let Samantha out for more than a few minutes at a time. I don't want anything bad to happen to her. That pretty much brings me up to date. Of course other things have happened, but for now this is enough to let people know I'm still alive and kicking. I'm off for now.

Monday's Magnet

Today is a stinkin' hot day. It's 92.6º with a dew point of 69, and the humidity is 44%. That means it feels like it's 98º at the moment. YUCKY! I think I'd rather be in Switzerland at the moment. This magnet was a gift from Janet Fitch. She and her husband, George, took a trip there several years ago. Mrs Fitch was Emile's 1st grade teacher, and Brie's kindergarten teacher. We became friends and have remained so to this day. She's a lovely person. Now to have some cool relief from these hot summer days.

Monday's Magnet

I know we celebrated Independence Day last week, however, I thought it would be neat to share another one of my patriotic magnets. This one came from Boyd's Bears. I think it's as cute as can be. And what the heck... it makes me smile.
